I recently read something (probably on Game Central) that suggested production of Microsoft's first Xbox console is about to cease, what with the Xbox 2 due for release at the very end of this year, or so I've heard.
I was wondering how this might affect the current console though, pricewise, seeing as how I've been saying "I'm going to buy one" for the last two years but all my money seems to be going on power tools and things I really need...
I suppose I could consider going second-hand, but I barely trust half the pre-owned bins I come across these days, and a console is something so much more.
There are only the bare minimal of games I'm interested in also. Fable, the Grand Theft Auto's, Pro Evo, Shenmue II (no, I don't own a PS.2!)... It could well grow over time, but those are the main ones in my sight now.
So, to get back to the point:
What kind of prices do you think we can expect?
When would you say this is likely to happen?
Would this be the only one before Xbox 2...?

Well they also said they'd make Xbox games 'till 2007... So I doubt they'd stop making the console.
