I have just built a new PC. I need a good soundcard as I am a young guitarist of the year finalist *shows off*. I wouldn't like to spend too much, £100 max really, all maybe stretch to £120, as I cud probably source it for cheaper.

In case it has any relevance, D. Done (whos account this is) built the PC, with the following specs:

2500+ Barton 512kb cache
Gigabyte GA-7N400E-L
512mb DDR400 Crucial CL3
Sapphire Radeon *Rex Series* 9200SE 128mb (Not a gamer ;) )
80gb 7200rpm ATA133 HDD
19" CRT Monitor

I need a Soundcard for under £100, which has analogue stereo in and outs for hooking to to an amplifier and for monitoring and 1 digital coaxial (phono) in and out for hooking up to another digital based recorder. Maybe optical digital, depending on prices, not essential. Midi built in interface for 2x2 Channels for hooking up to midi keyboard/ other midi devices.

If you can get a suitable Terratec card for your money, go with that.

I should imagine a Creative soundcard is what your after, decent quality, but you'll need one with a jack that can fit guitar leads, I'm getting one soon aswell, my guitar just *has* to be rigged up to my PC :P

I have been looking around recently and most people say that all Creative and Hercules soundcards have a minimal impact on performance but they still remain decent quality. Have a browse through some of those and click full specifications to find out more. With you wanting it for recording/musical output I can't really point you towards any particular card as I only look at ones with Optical/Coaxial input for Dolby Digital systems although I would imagine a guitar would have a coaxial connection.
