Roman Abramovich can spend over £120m on top-class new players to come along and make his Chelski Empire the greatest team in Europe - and yet, Spurs (of all teams!) are the ones scoring the 3-or-4-goals-pre-game The Blues still cannot manage to get!
Both teams have spent a lot, and should be doing a lot better...
Yet, it is the team halfway-down the table, not contending for a top-spot finish, that manages to out-do some of the finest players our world has to offer us!

I mean, look at Gérard Houllier, for example. Another terrible result for the vastly-underperforming Liverpool, and yet, he's STILL in the job, when, really, he should've been sacked a good 18-months-ago!

Henry was was hardly little money at over 10 million, but yes, his value now far exceeds the investment Wenger put in.
i would like to point out that money can only get you so far. coaching, money, talent and experience makes a good player. chelsea can only buy players that are second rate to each selling club. this excludes duff, who had to be sold for money and lamps who was grown, given experience and bought young. look at becks, henry, vieira, giggs, scholes, etc. all for little or no money, now worth well in excess of 10mil.
Wahey another topic about the goal scoring brilliance of Spurs. Yes we do have some class players upfront, it's just a shame we can't keep the door closed at the other end to actually make these goals count.
I still do not know how we managed to get both Kanoute and Defoe, players that Arsenal among other big names were after, all I know is that I'm damn glad we have got them. Defoe has prooved himself to be amazing in his first few games, and has been scoring at a great rate. Some of the goals have been crackers too, especially his first.

In Italy or in Spain he would have been sacked 18 months ago. Look at Vicente del Bosque whose contract was not renewed at the end of last season even though he won Real Madrid the La Liga title. John Toshack's contract was also not renewed even though he had won for the Champions League for Real Madrid. There are very many examples that you can use from the two countries above.
