Going PCI-E mate. Watch this space!
I'm going to build a new PC later in the year...
.. but I need to replace my 9600 for this computer and I was thinking about a nVidia BFG 6600GT - what do Radeon have in the £150 range.

Yeah that's all well and good providing Shader 3.0 technology will be implemented in all games but as it stands hardly any use it and the ones that do get a really pants frame rate increase because of it. If it was anything useful to the market then ATI would have used it with the X800/X850 cards, they didn't though because it is pretty much useless.
Buying a card because it has Shader 3.0 technology is crazy, especially seeing how much the X800/X850 XT PE cards out perform the 6800 Ultra cards in pretty much every major game despite still running 2.0.
It's another classic example of Nvidia trying to wow the market with something that has bagger all benefits for the users.

Only £19 more!
I'd want my new card to do lots of things in the future that games don't necessetate now.
FarCry on Max is beautiful, though. My mate can run 4xAA at 1280 with everything maxed. I could swim forever.

Don't Splinter Cell 3, MOH Pacific Assault and others use SM3.0? Even so, more games will be using it in the future. If I'm spending £300 on a card I'd want it to use up to date tech. It may not be the big issue it's marketed to be, but I do think it should be a consideration.

Don't let that "Designed for Nvidia" thing deceive you!! <- Far Cry, UT2004 all feature this but, run much much faster on ATI hardware and look better (because you can turn Antialising and Aniso. filtering right up without too much of a perfomance hit, I was running UT2004 at 6XAA, 16XAF at 1600 X 1200 and never saw the fps counter drop below 85 on an X800XT PE, I would like to see an Ultra match that).
