I am a 16 year old who lost interest in books about the same time I hit puberty. I hadn't read a book since Goosebumps when I was a wee nipper. But then a friend recommended this to me and I decided to give it a go. It's amazing. An intelligent book that isn't heavily symbolistic like the books I'm forced to study at school. It really makes you think about the Government and how they control certain aspects of our lives. I finished part 1 and I will probably read it for a few hours later.
Everyone should give this a go.
Please no spoilers.
Rubbish. The introduction in my edition said it best - all the characters are paper thin covers for themes, except perhaps Winston, but he himself is hardly a well rounded character. The O'Brien/Smith 'discussions' are utterly riveting.
It was fantastic and I loved the ending. My only criticism is that the beginning of part 2 was a bit slow with the Love story.
Definitely one of the best/only books I've ever read.
Is there a film of it? It's the perfect storyline for a huge-budget blockbuster.
Genius.
Oho, get to Part 3. I think it's 3.
Brilliant. One of the best sections I've ever read in any book.
