I just used that image for the $hits and giggles.

"Your mum didin't have an abortion for you, so how can you justify an action that would ultimately contradict your whole existance?"

"Yes so was I. Floating in amniotic substance. Helpless. Nothing more than an ameoba on the scale of things. But I pulled through. I drank water. I burst THROUGH the membrane.

People mostly have abortions for 1 of 2 reasons:
1) They can't cope with an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy and what it entails.

This is pretty much dependent on the circumstances of the pregnancy and if the baby is likely to be brought up in really bad conditions where it will be threatened with a sub-standard of life then there is an arguement for the surgery to go ahead. But only an arguement, and it shouldn't be made easy to just walk in and get an abortion. I believe that the woman, and partner where applicable, should be made to think about the situation and talk it over with someone, even a complete stranger who is trained in councilling, to decide.

2) They have reason to believe that their baby is deformed in some way or 'abnormal'.

This is more difficult. What is 'abnormal'? How can we decide if a baby with one 'defect' has a good enough standard of life? It's pretty mind-bending to think about whether babys with Downs deserve the right to live. Sure, it's hard work to look after them, I've helped looking after adults and children with Downs, but there are groups who support and even foster childern such as this. Of course, the test is only done at 10-12 weeks and then at 15 with the blood test. Even at this stage the only results you get are that the baby has a 'high' or 'low' chance of having abnormalities, nothing definite.

Also, even at 12 weeks, a baby is pretty much fully formed in shape. It's scary to see them move around on an ultrasound even when they have barely had 3 months to grow. At this time you realise they are alive and moving. Does it then matter how much sense they can make of their small world? Well, I can't answer that question for everyone else, but to me it doesn't matter, once you see that scan it changes everything.

i may be mad to try and tackle this subject but i will give my view as honestly as i can.
i don't like it,that is human nature but i also don't like the idea of forcing someone to have a unwanted child, it's deeply unfair to everybody involved, but i think you must have the choice if you're against it that's your choice but you don't have the right to force someone elses hand.
neither option is a happy one which is why it has to come down to the only person who can make the choice, the woman.
now as a man,and someone who really want's children,i think you will understand that this is not easy to say or accept, and if this issue comes up for me i will argue my case against til i'm blue in the face, but i will accept the judgement of the woman because i don't see any other way.
this problem will always exist, despite how careful we are and there is only one answer.

Let them do it if they need to, is my opinion. Considering we're actually talking about abortion here! ;)
For some reason, my opinion of that only sticks to teenagers. Reason being, is, they're too young to have kids and 'mess' up their lives. Not 'mess up' in a cruel way, but there are people out there intelligent enough to make a living out of something decent instead of chase babies around at a young age.
Also, not a very in depth opinion, but it's horrible to hear how the father's don't get a say in it a lot. I back them up too.
