She sits in my Dad’s chair
Sucking in on cancer sticks
Blowing grey disease everywhere
When Smokey Doris comes to visit
She’ll cough and splutter and start to speak
She’ll ask, “How are you my dear?”
Her scent an ashtray, lavender reek
When Smokey Doris comes to visit
She’ll brag about her Caravan
and bring with her my ‘Uncle’ Ron
Her small and witty un-wed man
When Smokey Doris comes to visit
She’ll hug you with her yellow fingers
and laugh furiously with a one-lunged voice
But when she’s gone the smoke still lingers
"Go on children, write about when your grandma comes to visit"
Yep - that's all I could say. I'm a man of many words.
