Isn't it amazing how games are coming on in progess with the internet ? If whats said is true, then theres going to be a new RPG coming to the Dreamcast that will not only allow players to work together, but it will also eliminate the language barrier ! Although everyone will be focusing on the game itself, you have to look at just how big a breakthrough this is. To think, you could be playing in London and your friend partnering you in this game could be in Tokyo Japan. Normally the 2 of you couldn't hope to be able to talk to eachother but because of this little machine in front of you and the game inside it, you can talk to this person as you would your friends without fear of not understanding eachother !
This game could end up very basic in terms of what your able to say, but even if that becomes the case, it opens a new door in gaming that can be improved just as the graphics are. Its not just a breakthrough in gaming but also communication. Maybe oneday that same idea could be used on the internet chat rooms so people in foreign countries who can't speak English (and same with us with their languages) will finally be able to talk. I'm sure other companies will venture into this new area too - imagine the games using this idea in 10 years time !
Its bound to go beyond RPG's too. Imagine games such as Hidden and Dangerous using this idea too. You could have a squad of say 5 people from all different countries playing against another squad of 5 people. Not only that but it also increases the amount of people everyone can play against overall too. Although online games such as Quake, etc don't particularly need to worry about language barriers it still opens the doorway for every other genre of games besides the shoot em all dead ones ! Lets hope this becomes the start of something very special in gaming.
