I've minimised the Task Manager to check that my CPU is definitely not in use when the fan operates; but I do remember not long ago that the fan only spun up when the processor was 100% used. What do you think's happened here? Software that can somehow occupy CPU time without showing up on the Task Manager, or hardware related?
As long as it still spins, I wouldn't worry overly much. It's when it doesn't spin you should be worried.
