So what can we do in whilst we wait for the technology to become avalible. Nintendo already started to create the feel that you are in the game with the use of the rumble pack. Now developers are using the idea of surround sound to make the gaming experience more real.
Goldeneye was great as it created the experience of being Bond very effectivly but if Rare could of done more to make the experience feel more real how much more would we of loved it?
Nintendo's failed creation the virtual boy also might of been heading down the right track as you looked through a pair of binocular like device so you were completley immersed in the game. The Playstation glove device is also clever as your input feels alot more real. This combined with the virtual boy binocular idea would create a near virtual reality experience.
It doesn't just have to be gloves. Socks and other such bodily clothing could be used. And if you use a rumble vest it would be extremly realistic. Would this type of game be too expensive though?
Not if these devices like the rumble pack is simply an optional use and if these ideas could be used then the future would be very real indeed.
Here's to the future
Dringo
All these add ons will not be cost effective for a long while, and so developers wont manucfacute for them. Look at Samba De Amigo for DC, with the maraca things, it was £100, who can realistically afoord to pay that much money?
Only Sega would make a game like that one, because they know they could get it right. 3rd party developers would never risk the cost of devleopment, because they couldnt guaruntee (sp?) that it would work, thats why we see so many sequels, across all platforms.
Try and win properly Dringo.
I also recognised the topic.
