I was a little biased as I've read the original screnplay, which is much, much darker and nastier. I didn't like Joel Schumacher turning the "bad guys" into Batman baddies.

Most recent example of Hollywood film noir - Minority Report. Note the shades of colour used.

(also "8mm" althought that was stinky, so I don't like to talk about it)

No, "Se7en" is a perfect example of a colour "Film Noir", "Reservoir Dogs" too. You're entirely correct.

I've been living in film noir for some time now and all I'll say is it's over rated.

There's something more to it.
