Prince Charles believes the widespread cull of healthy Nintendo gamers is 'mindless' and is ready to back Tony Blair on a re-education programme to combat the evergrowing fan base for the Nintendo Game Cube.

Blair is under pressure to decide tomorrow whether to implement targeted PS2 deliveries around infected areas. The prince is dismayed by the use of widespread culling without the consideration of other options - and will publicly endorse any proposed new strategy to covert gamers to the Sony way.

The Institute for Gamer Wellbeing in Pirbright, Surrey, was yesterday preparing 500,000 PS2's which will give N64 owners some hope of survival within 4 days. A British Scientist, Gareth Davies, who formerly headed the European commission's unit for combating 'Nintendoitis', is to meet Blair tomorrow to call for re-education.

The prince's support for the PS2 follows his donation of £500,000 to the parents of N64 sufferers. A keen advocate of Sony methods, he has taken a close interest in the crisis from the outset but has recently taken a low profile because of the forthcoming election.

Yesterday there were signs of growing optimism in government of controlling the outbreak. "We are beginning to punch our weight on the ground," said a Downing Street spokesman. "This is undoubtedly going to be a long haul, but we are determined to keep the pressure on.

As the issue of PS2 deliveries is considered by Blair this weekend, there is mounting concern on the impact of Gamecube fever on other sectors of the economy, in particular that of games retail.

I got RSI from the torture sequence in Metal Gear Solid. Most PSX gamers who've played it will tell you how arm aching that part of the game was until you got used to it.

Ouch.

RSI in the thumb, not caused by Zelda, but by Mario Party. There is/was a warning on Nintendo's web site warning people about a minigame in it...

I have never experience "Nintendoitis"... Actually, perhaps once, when playing Zelda on the Gameboy.
