If a game had really good music - really emotional or exciting - or makes great use of surround sound and sound effects, then I could see the point in writing about them. But would it change the game's score if they were bad.
In the same way, if the game has the most annoying and just plain gay music, does it really matter?
Super Monkey Ball being the perfect example - when you're at a stage of utter frustration over a level, it seems like the oh-so-happy music is just laughing at you.
You can always switch off the music, and it won't impair gameplay, but if the sound effects are terrible, it can damage the experience.
