Games like this don't annoy me as I simply will not get them. What annoys me is when a good game in theory turns out bad because of a few flaws which could be easily fixed with just a few extra months in development.
One game I can think of is Star Wars: Battle for Naboo, It should be great being the sequal to Rogue Squadron but there is a few little problems that ends up ruining the game. Same with Conkers Bad Fur day, due to its bad camera it becomes frustrating to play so ruining part of the game.
So who is supposed to make sure these problems don't come about?
The Playtester these people are supposed to point out these problems so the developers can fix them. So why don't they? Why don't Developers ask magazines, people who point out the games flaws to the public, to playtest their games.
It is time for change we only want the best so we need to make sure we only get the best!

Timespitters is great but if i was a gametester i would of said there is distinct control difficulties and as auto aiming doesn't extend to pointing up it makes shooting guys on roofs a real chore that is the problems I noticed.
Still though developers who want to produce a deacent game should listen Rare spent 4 years making Conker and a few extra months in development wouldn't of bothered us too much! Simply camera not perfect Rare would of fixed it and game would get game of the year!
Maybe the problem doesn't lie in the Gamestesters fault, but as you said the idea of meeting dates, this resricts the whole process of the making of a game and ruins what could be a great game, time is important for any game, if the developing companies don't meet the dates, then the launch will be delayed, if they do then the game will be rushed, a prime example being TTT which although is a good game it could have been excellent with a few more months in R&D. What people don't understand is not many companies have the money to delay a game, it could've been great and probably should've been great but they would have lost more then releasing a botched version.
Developers don't like dates, infact they hate release dates, companies are being very clever now and not saying a confirmed release date until the game has gone into the final process of programming the 'touch it up' stage.
This is annoying for the players but I can promise you not knowing a release date is better then knowing a release date.
Thanks
