No, it should extend your membership from a year from the current expiry date (although membership periods may be cropped at a maximum of two years if you extend multiple times).

Yup. You can renew at any time as well. If you currently have an active membership but want to claim another gift, you can renew now and it'll just extend the membership for another year.
(Hmmm, Red Alert AND SimCity 3000 is a pretty good free gift.)
