Here's an odd one...

Booted my PC, told me something software.hardware had changed, booted using last known safe configuration.

Restored to previous settings, rebooted...

Win XP Lodaing screen OK, then it boots to a blue screen with a huge mouse pointer! Press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice to enable classic login and desktop set at 640x480. Reset display to 1280x1024, checked drivers for monitor (LG L1710B) and AGP (ATi 9500Pro) all fine and working properly. Reset login screen (using Logon loader) and rebooted again...

Guess what?...

Any ideas? It's as if Windows is forgetting the display settings when it shuts down and restarts?

Is this some sort of pat your head/rub your stomach thing? I'm confused.

OK... it's a registry problem which goes a little deeper as what ever has happened has corrupted my restore points! To add insult to injury, the repair disc I have mo longer works as the fool who fixed it last time used a different copy of XP! I know have one slightly borked box! Again! Cheers Evesham...

If you right-click on My Computer->Manage->Event Viewer->System, are there any Errors (marked with red crosses)? This is a shot in the dark.
