them: 'Is that Chris Cunningham'
me: 'Yes it is, who's this'?
'My name is Mark from the Official Playstation Magazine and a while ago you applied for a games tester position at our offices'
'Oh right'
'Would you still be interested'?
'Well, what kind of game is it'?
'It's a racing game kind of like Micro Machines'
Anyway, for some reason, possibly due to the hundered or more poeple behind and in front of me I rejected his offer. There was lots of reasons that went through my head in like 30 seconds. He wanted an answer right there and then, he couldn't call me at home the next day and it was for thursday the 12th feb, which was like 2 days away.
Things that went through my head:
1: I can't have a day off work again with such little notice.
2: Going to London everyday with the possible threat of terrorist attacks and the sheer madness of london in general where the people suck so much.
3: I've got a steady job now as a trainee computer engineer whcih I'm enjoying.
4: A year after I applied for all those games testing jobs, am I still really enthusiastic about it all?
5: Have I matured more, is that why I rejected the offer?
6: Will I regret this for being my one chance ever to get a slight foot in the games industry.
All that I thought about. When I put down the phone and told my bro and friends I was all like . . . SH*T, what have I done ! ! !. I couldn't phone him back because it was with held.
But during the gig I forgot about it after meeting Matt from Funeral For A Friend and seeing Ryan (FFAF, drummer) out with his friends and getting a photo with Eddie and Riley from Thrice.
Do I regret Rejecting it now ? ? ? Not particularly.
Thanks for your time.
