I recently downloaded a movie from the net and can't get it to play in any of the media players on my computer. With the title of the movie there's another word called 'xvid'. I was wondering, is xvid another media player? I already have RealOne, Quicktime, WindowsMediaPlayer and DivX installed, and non of them play the movie properly (no audio in DivX).

lol, never mind. I found it on Kazaa. Never thought that I would need to install so many extra bits and pieces just to get a single movie working.
I've now installed xvid which plays the movie fine but still I get no audio. DivX throws up the clue "audio data: Tag 8192" missing. It suggests that some sort of new audio codec is needed, but I haven't a clue where to look for that.
xvid=file extension.

You should just be able to use Media Player once you have that installed.
xvid is another codec, an open source one. The website is www.xvid.org but I think they only have the source code. There should be links to an installable version on there though.
