English_bloke,
if you don't know this (not your department/part of training, etc..) then fine, but i figured you're probably in the best position to help :)

How long to points stay on a driving license before they are removed?

i got an SP30 in 2001 and thought they became void this year...
any ideas mate?

.. or anyone else?

thanks in advance for any help

It sure is. It's a sad state of affairs though when people can be banned for driving too fast through a town, yet others can cause serious injury and only get a fine.

well, to a degree, yes, but if that were to happen, it'd be my own fault for speeding everywhere. so unless the cameras were faulty or there were other special circumstances (friend of mine got pulled over for speeding but someone we knew was in the back seat possibly having a miscarriage and he was going to the hospital so they let him go) then it's just one of those harsh lessons to learn.

Unless you happen to be unlucky enough to be captured by several speed cameras in one day and get banned for it.

so although any fixed penalty points apply for 4 years, if you build up 12 points in 3 years, you lose your license?
makes sense....

well i did say i wasn't sure if EB would know, i've no idea what gets taught in police training. Just because EB is a policeman, doesn't mean he ONLY got trained in handcuffing and police-specific activities, in my experience the police have to know an awful lot about many aspects of the law.

I've 6 points at the moment, although 3 of them should've been removed ages ago.

I got a parking ticket once because my disabled badge was a fortnight out of date, but, after talking to the nice lady traffic warden and saying things like "I don't blame you for giving me that" and "It's my own fault for being a lazy monkey", she actually took it off my car and tore it up! I was so happy I gave her a kiss on the cheek ... although it wasn't as spontaneous as I'd have liked because I then had to say "Lean down here so I can kiss you!". She was nice ...

I've had 6 points during my driving career, but now have none. I believe it is 3 years, yes.
