Based on the original game you have to rescue the decendants of the sages to seal away gannon. The graphics are cool, the sound effects are great and you'll be whistling those tunes for a long time after playing. The best bit is trying to get through the dungeons and locating all the secrets in hyrule. There are so many that you'll be playing for months!
My fav. FPS: Ultimate Doom/Doom 2 (PC)
Based on Wolfenstein 3D, these games, both graphically the same have loads of levels and great challenges. What's even better is, if you've got the CD versions and want to play them on an older computer, they both fit on the same floppy disk!!! However make sure you delete the floppy disks files afterwards cos that's software piracy (Unless you have the shareware version)
This game you could call an original. At the time it had the best graphics, best sounds and it still has some of the best lastability a game could ever have! Without this game, which is a World Record holder, we wouldn't have games like Perfect Dark and Goldeneye, and spoofs such as Duke Nukem!
My fav. Platform game: Super Mario Allstars (SNES)
Ok I know it's more than one game. Well 5 if you include Lost levels and Mario World! They all use the original platform character Mario who was originally a carpenter but Myamoto (sorry if spelt wrong) decided a plumber sounded better. Mario starred in many cartoons and even featured in TV series' played by actors and had a film about him made! This character has done well enough to become Nintendo's main videogame character and lots of different games have been made using him since, especially sports games!
The actual games on this 5-in-1 cart are great full of bright colourful graphics, plenty of baddies, planty of levels and excellent gameplay! This game is another that will last for ages!
My fav. Point & Click game: Star Trek: A Final Unity (PC)
This game features the main characters from the hit series Star Trek The Next Generation. The characters which are fully interactive are, Jean-Luc Picard, Worf Son of Mogh, Data, Geordie La-Forge, Beverly Crusher, William T Riker, Deanna Troi and 2 extras brought in for the game.
In this adventure, a group of Garidians, a sub species of the Romulans, have asked for political assylum whilst they try to uncover the history of their civilisation which will bring peace to the land. Of course the Romulans don't see things the same way and decide to attack. In this game ou have to help the Garidians find the "Fifth Scroll" which contains a prophecy and will prove the other prophecies in the land. Also there are Starfleet matters to attend to like a "Lost Lamb" and a badly damaged Orbital Station. This game is a challenge!
My fav. RTS: Command & Conquer Red Alert (PC)
Red Alert uses exactly the same game engine as the original Command & Conquer but is based in a parrellel universe. In this universe, a scientist has gone back in time and wiped out Adolf Hitler in the name of peace. However, Stalin decided to take advantage over the effects on Europe that the first World War had and tries to take over Europe. This game, unlike Command & Conquer, contains new technologies to aid you through the game. These new technologies enable you to electricute intruders and teleport your vehicles. The movie sequences have been improved and the storyline is better than the original Command & Conquer. This game kept me hooked to my PC for over a year!
I do like other types of games but these are some of my very favourites! Some games I like even better than these but these definately deserve to be on next gen. consles!
