Any ideas how? The ctrl + alt + del allows you to get into the task manager but its protected and you can not close any of the background applications without the error "Unable to Terminate Process, Access denied". I don't want any replies saying go to Windows XP because even thouh I have it I really don't like the interface or all the extra functions which I will never use. I have searched Google and Microsoft.com for answers but no one really has a proper answer. I have read about people using the Kill comand but I'm not sure how to implicate it properly. Anyone with experience or an idea of how to close the background apps down I would greatly appreciate, your help.

Cheers!

Out of interest, you do know you can just disable all the "fancy" style interface things in XP, thus making it much simpler

Ye I had tried everything. I have gone back to XP Pro and have read the info on the blackviper website which shows what programs can be closed down. Out of interest do I need to close the task manager applications or just the ones from the services section?

Cheers mate. I hadn't tried there but when I go to disable I still get the same error as before.

Control panel > admin tools > services, close down any services you don't use/need, I can provide a list if you like.
