"Converting WAV to MP3"

Have some audio files in WAV format and I really need to free up some space so I was going to convert them all to mp3, but I can't seem to find a free program that will do it.
I know winamp will convert mp3's to wav but don't know if it will convert wav to mp3.

Anyone reccomend any free programs that will do the job?

I agree and it comes with a full cd converter, and you can also get a .wma converter addon thingy...

Actually, there is a ripping program that's supposed to be marginally better than cdex, although I forget what it's called (Turbonutter will know). However, cdex+lame encoder is an industrial strength encoding package, and will kick the likes of audiocatalyst through a concrete wall. It's very easy to use as well, and completely free.

AudioCatalyst is a decent one!
