Gran Turismo 2000
FIFA
ISS
Tekken
Street Fighter
The above games cover nearly every Genre. Not only that but the Games are among the best in that Genre. If people want some of the best Games ever they will have to buy a PS2. That is why the PS2 will be amongst the greatest consoles of all time.
Why:

MGS2- release Autumn 2001, possibly also on DC
GT2000- end of this year in Japan
FF11- Online only, depends when Sony sets up a good network (broadband hardly exists in the UK!)
TTT and SF- worse than Soul Calibur! (I've played them!)
Meanwhile the DC is here and now, with Shenmue, MSR and loads of top titles this year! For God's sake, u can't buy a PS2 at release in shops!

This no where near counts for all the genres.
No proper 1st person shootem'up
Most importantly no platformer, Platformers tend to be the foundations of consoles.
No other different Sport
other problems:
Nothing Original The one with the least predeceessors is GT2000 which will be the the third most have 5 or 6 predecessors.
I also heard Sony still haven't sorted out the controllers

Rip off starting price
Competition using same DVD system meaning equal prices leading to nobody buying it as a cheap alternative like last time.
Nintendo are masters of the market in terms of knowing what consumers want and work better at creating better quality game that last longer and this time have the price advantage.
Rare are quite obviously the best developer and can make fighting games, shooters and platformers and have pledged themselves to nintendo for the Dolphin.
Nintendo's machine will once again have superior capabilities.
Nintendo are leaving there launch late so they can make games of higher quality and have a better variety of launch games with old favourites and new games.
