The first and third were two very enjoyable children's books. The others, while quite gripping, didn't quite have the punch of those two. Indeed, The Chamber of Secrets and The Order of the Pheonix were really rather mundane.

By sticking to the same formula, not being very original, completely selling out and in turn getting the riches and respect she has, JK Rowling has lost a lot of respect from me.

I had no quibbles with Potter. The 4th book was reasonable, in a predictable, wooden kind-of-a-way.

And then ...
*Dramatic music*
... came the 5th book.

And oh my God, it's the worst thing I've ever read.
Absolutely awful.
I don't know if I'd just grown up a bit since the 4th, but I was actually in pain whilst reading.

No plot continuations, very slow to do anything, the magician cliché is wearing thin (if they're so clever - why don't they use biros?), everytime anything remotely interesting happens the writing is confused and childish, the dead bloke wasn't very important, it wasn't even the 'horrible, horrible death' Rowling creamed herself over. He fell through some badly-described veil or something.
Wow, horrible.

And so on.
Ugh.

And what a be-aut-i-ful pun!!

Anyway, Harry Potter is indeed crap.

Reasonable... that's how I'd describe them.

Ah but I do hate Daniel Radcliffe... he was slightly better in the second mind.

I thought they were both okay. Obviously not epics by any means but reasonable entertainment.

Awful movie, painful to watch. Terrible direction. I haven't seen the second one and don't plan to. Get a new director in, and a new Harry Potter and I'll give it a go, but until then I won't be subjected to such boredom.

I've got both films on DVD and like them both. They're not great or anything but they are good fun to watch when you're baby-sitting.

Harry Potter's alright...

Nothing special, a solid effort.
