IF you look at PD's multiplayer you can save your characters on the cart and continue to train your player into a better rank.
This needs to be done more often.
So it was kind of pointless building up her stats, as she wasn't that much help in the game later on anyway.
Naughty Square, slapped wrist, don't do it again! grrrrr.
Unfortunatley I lost the little piece of paper that had all of the passwords on it, so I can no longer even get into the game to play it!
But hey at least they got one hell of a gravestone !
You've built them up to a great level, and they've got all of these decent items, and spells and the like, but then you've taken the game as far as you can, so there's nothing more for your great character to do.
Wouldn't it be great if you could download these from this game, and put them into another game.
Though it would cause problems with games as they are today as the character would already have all of the strength that they would be expected to build up throughout the course of the game. They'd waltz through the early levels, and just keep getting better.
What they could do is balance it out, so you start with the same character, and the enemies start at a higher level to give you a challenge. The strenght of the enemies would be based on your own strengths, so you could use your super cool character, and not find the game ridiculously easy.
Stat building encourages people to keep playing a game and keep returning to a game without having to start from the beginning every time. Obviously there are some genres in which it would not work (how you would improve upon characters such as Solid Snake for instance) but also there are genres in which it would/could work but isn't as yet being used. I know that I take great pleasure in building stats in RPGs (final fantasy etc.) It would be good to see stat building being used more in FPSs and I mean more than improving your characters rank, your characters experience should be reflected in more than just numbers on a score card. Mabye an experienced character should be able to take more damage or use better weapons or be harder to hit? I think this would be especially good for on-line deathmatches!
BIG UP DEM STAT BUILDING!
Although, thinking about it, it could be a step back toward computer geekdom. If you think of people discussing what levels they're at on such and such a game etc. do you see the self same kids that are walking up hip street or do you see the nerds of yester year? I have always liked games but there are a lot of casual gamers emerging who stat building would not appeal to and seeing as the recent boom in the games industry is partially due to this type of gamer, would stat building actually be good for the industry at this time?
STATS IS BAD?
