"He says he foresaw at the time of the Government's dossier in September 2002 that no major WMD stockpiles would be found. He made a formal complaint about the dossier to avoid himself and his fellow experts being cast as "scapegoats" for any such failure."
Wouldn't you want to cover your ass in that situation? Or would you rather end up like Dr. Kelly? I bet he's damn glad that he did, after seeing the heads roll at the BBC.
However it still reeks of him trying to cover his ass. We have an inquiry on the way. Unlike some of you, I accept the verdict of Hutton and I'll accept the verdict of this new one, regardless of the outcome. You two cannot say the same.
I'd also question whether DIS staff are really the best analysts in the country because I looked at one of their graduate recruitment ads on the internet and, well I'd be paid more to be a management trainee in most retail firms.
"Brian Jones, the former leading expert on WMD in the Ministry of Defence"
Sole voice of reason?
"Dr Jones makes clear that he was not alone and declares that the whole of the Defence Intelligence Staff, Britain's best qualified analysts on WMD, agreed that the claims should have been "carefully caveated". "
Who cares? Seriously, we're having an enquiry aren't we? Don't tell me you two have prejudged that enquiry already? Of couse this new enquiry - for you two at least, Darwock and Flockhart - will be valid if it backs up your beliefs but invalid if it does not.
(impression of bell)
"well hes a bloody liar, tony would never lie to us,ive seen the highly secret original document,i know nothing was added,i also know where the wmd's are im just not telling you"
*chants in the style of a chat show guest, while waving arms*
"go tony,go tony,go tony"
