Quite amusing hearing them set up these elaborate rules for the infected, which they then immediately tell us they threw straight out. Oh, and the avoidance of calling them zombies for ½ an hour, until the point where you can almost heard them think “to hell with it, who are we trying to kid?”
“Where are all the bodies” “We thought absence would be visually more interesting, I hope that is a justification”
“The taxi driving over the blockade” (followed by an explanation of how they did it), “Its plainly ridiculous though………”
“and of course, at this point we expect the audience to believe this massive message was made out of quilts and curtains from the cottage, even thought there are like 400 parachutes there”
Very entertaining, mixing how is was done, with anecdotes from on set, to opinions about what worked and what was less successful. If only every commentary was this entertaining.
Still, I wish they have kept the gloomy Jim dying ending, or even better, stopped at the second appearance of “28 days later”

I admired Boyle and Garland's decision to stay away from the "spring loaded cat" style fake scares as it smacks of sloppy writing and direction IMHO, and I never “jumped.”
But the killings I found *extremely* uncomfortable to be honest, especially when it was done in that weird frame skipping style, but this is because most of it is off screen and left to the viewers imagination. Remove the actors pleading for their lives and the sound effects, and what you see is very little.
Well, apart from a head being burst like a watermelon and thumbs knuckle deep in eye sockets…

Its flawed, and suffers from a low budget and some poor acting (Hanna) but overall, I found it an enjoyable genre movie.
Some silly bits, but since when have horror movies been logical? :)
Too bad the film itself was crap.
