Wireless Networking:
Would i be able to share an internet connection through a wireless network. Or would this involve buying a router?
I have a Laptop (Running ME) and a Desktop (also running ME) and i am thinking of buying a PCMCIA network adapter for my laptop and a PCI one for my Desktop i was wondering is it actually worth buying a router when i could use the internet connection sharing wizard on my laptop and PC?
I have phoned up a number of computer shops (Including SR) and have been given loads of different answers and opinions, some shops say i just need two network adapters and others say i need a router aswell.
Bearing in mind that my ADSL modem is USB. Could you tell me what i need, and is there a way around not using a router or buying another modem?
Thanks
James

I'm running XP Pro quite happily on a P3 450 with 128MB PC100 Ram... If it's slows, just run it in Classic!

ICS in ME is abysmal. I never got it working and I tried like hell.

Reinstalls, registry edits, hacked files, replaced system files, different drivers, different updates installed... it never once worked for me. And I knew what I was doing with it.

But yes, certainly you should be able to share the internet connection using just 2 wireless adapters. The only thing to bear in mind is that you will need both on to use the net.

I would look into this carfully as you PC may get a lot slower on XP if it has less that a 1.5GHz CPU and 256MB of RAM, and also make sure you backup your data throughly, as OS upgrades don't always run as smothly as Microsoft would like you to believe.

Thankyou.

I'll upgrade to XP.

I have also heard of reports that ME doesn't work that well with ICS.

You will only need 2 wireless network cards (one PCI and one PCMIC, as you say) and your PC/laptop USB modem will work fine. You only need a router for 3 or more network points. Your only problem may be that MEs connection sharing is a bit temprimental, and has a nasty habit of not working at all. Still, I would try, and If ME mucks you about just upgrade to XP, its a far better OS anyway.
