Got PS2 mk1 on 30/12/00, died 23/03/01. May it rest in peace.
Got PS2 mk2a on Tuesday (it was a PSOne in the box so didn't even make it home)
Got PS2 mk2b today, 28/03/01, died TODAY god damn piece of cr@p.
Get PS2 mk3 on Friday... may the 3rd time lucky rule apply!

I can only hope.

I don't hate the PS2, I love it but am I ever going to be able to play for more than 2 hours without the laser thingyjobwotsit busting on me?

I thought it was 6 years for the shop that sells to you and 1 yr for the manufacturer. It's the consumers rights act of 1987, no I'm not a muppet it's just my £500 Dennon stereo blew up last week after 14 months and watchdog said a while back 'Which' magazine had a massive article on it, I bought Which mag at the time (just because) and sure enough, you can take any high street shop to court if they refuse to replace it up to 6 years later. So long as you have a copy of the CR act, it shouldn't come to this!!!
I'm going to Dixons (armed with the mag) on Saturday so I'll let you know how I go.

Considering the problems with the PS2, this should bring some peace of mind to all PS2 owners. May they sleep easy for 6 years after purchasing a PS2!!!

Just be glad its failed on you now, and not in a years time when you wouldnt be able to return it!

Actually scrap that, did you know that if a product is faulty if you can return it to high street shops up to five years later (I read this in some PC mag). Apparently its a sale regulation of some kind, that most shops try to rip you off with by telling you they wont take it back after a year...basically theyre breaking the law, the 12 month guarantee (provided by the manufacturer usually) is not the same as your 5 year sales guarantee (provided by the shop!).

Im not sure if this law applies to online shops (i.e. Special Reserve), yould have to ask Tony or Ali.

Nope, not yet. Truth is I haven't touched my PS2 since the weekend, cos Ican't afford to get lost in the games due to other things.

Itching to get back to it though!

The tech bloke said they would put it through a comprehensive test before they release it this time. Bad news is Friday!!! No footie tomorrow night either. Guess I'll crack open the PSX and blast GT2 again in preparation for June 1st.

I want to play StarWars though. Have you finished it yet?

Jeez, you are having some really bad luck with this. I hope it gets sorted properly this time.

You'd think that they'd test the things for a while before shipping them out.
