"The Rock sat down with sports radio personality, Jim Rome, this morning on his syndicated radio show. Here is a recap...
Rock commented on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in 'The Rundown', saying that Arnold had no hesitations in doing a cameo. Rock did a great impression of Schwarzenegger. He said that the big action stars like Arnie, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone are supporting him in every way, and that they are The Rock’s boys.
Jim ran over some actors he had worked with or will be working with including Arnold, John Travolta and Christopher Walken. Rock tried a Walken impression, which was apparently quite poor.
He said that he would return to Wrestling "ONE night this year" (Direct quote) for WrestleMania XX, in order to give back to the people who have supported him. Other than that he will be doing movies for the remainder of the year.
Although he didn't say it, he pretty much implied that wrestling is a distant #2 at this point.
Rome plugged Wrestle Mania XX and the Rock was gone. 5-6 min interview. All in all it was pretty basic."
So it looks like The Rock has pretty much given up wrestling for Hollywood *sobs* Bah, my favourite wrestler is going...at one point he was pretty much the only reason I watched wrestling. Stupid Hollywood.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him appear on Raw every so often to set up The Rock and Sock V Evolution (Randy Orton and ?).
The thing about actors and acting is they don't stay hot forever. If The Rock's acting career starts to suffer (and there have been rumours that his next film, Walking Tall, is a big film for The Rock), then he can easily return to the WWE.
The Rock is in a very good position because he is a proven draw in the WWE and has that as a backup for his movie career.
There have been reports that The Rock decided to concentrate on his movie career on advice saying that wrestling would harm him. Now they are saying that he needs wrestling to get the wrestling fans to buy tickets.
Either way, The Rock will always be known in the WWE and will probably always appear at Wrestlemania for the foreseeable future.
