Georgi Kinkladze is still attempting to win a move to Leeds, as the Georgian schemer turned out for The Whites' second string on Tuesday.
The former Ajax midfielder arrived on trial in West Yorkshire earlier in January, but it seemed a deal was unlikely to be offered as he later moved north of the border to try his luck at Kilmarnock.
Killie have been put off by his wage demands, despite saying they were still trying to put together a package, so the midfielder has popped up again in Yorkshire.
Kinkladze played 90 minutes of The Whites' 2-0 defeat by West Brom and showed flashes of his undoubted class.
The 30-year-old is a free agent, which means the transfer window is not applicable to his situation, so Leeds do not have to rush to tie up a deal.
Of greater importance to The Whites is securing the finances to avoid administration, but once that is sorted manager Eddie Gray may attempt to secure the services of Kinkladze.
A work permit is unlikely to be a problem for Kinkladze who is married to an English girl, which would allow Leeds to field the midfielder immediately should they opt to sign him.
David Batty, meanwhile, has issued a statement saying he would never place the club's future in jeopardy.
The Whites squad have been criticised for thus far refusing to accept a wage deferral, coverage which has clearly angered the tenacious midfielder.
"The fans should know that myself in particular and the Leeds players would never risk the future of Leeds United, least of all for personal gain," Batty said in a statement.
"I feel certain people have taken our decision to delay wage deferrals as an opportunity to 'shift blame', and have in turn waged a character assassination campaign against me and a few players to turn the fans against the team.
"Ignoring the people who run the club, I feel in this instance that we have never needed the relationship between the fans and players to be any stronger than at this time, and I hope on Saturday you will be joining the lads in giving everything possible to help us get three points.
"I can assure you of my best efforts at all times - I have never given any less than 100 percent to Leeds United - and finally none of the lads have ever said they wouldn't take a wage deferral - don't believe everything you read in the press!"

I'm sorry, but this just made me laugh.
Desperate times call for desperate measures at Elland Road!

R.I.P John Charles.
Nice to see that the 'great' Manchester United, and all of their cocky, arrogant fans should still fear the might whites.
SMITHY!
Then again, I don't see how Porki Kinkladze would be good-enough even for `at-the-end´ Leeds United! (Maybe it's really all for Leeds' good, then, eh...?)
