I work in Halifax, which is full of hills. This is not a good thing when the roads have been replaced by an ice rink. It took me just over an hour to do a 15-minute journey home and to top it off, I lost control of the car while braking and scratched the hell out of my front wheel - just around the corner from my bloody house!
I tells ya, if it keeps up by tomorrow, I ain't going into work. Sod 'em, they can cope without me for one day.
Apparently, according to the radio this morning, last nights general road choas and delays have been blamed, largely, according to several police forces, on driver's being impatient and selfish and abandoning vehicles in places which were not safe to do so.
I left my car parked on a side street where there is no parking restrictions at all so I don't think I caused any problem !
Feel sorry for all the people driving to work this morning! The roads are like.. an ice-rink!
Took me 13 hours getting home in the snow last year ( a journey that usually takes 20-30 mins). Exactly one year to the day i think...
I was in the town centre today when blizzard like conditions came out of nowhere. It had just been raining, melting all the snow from last night when suddenly hail stones started coming down. This of course left a nice blanket of ice on the floor for when it conviently decided to start snowing like a b!tch. Meaning a 3 minute car journey took almost half an hour. Nothing compared to last year though.
And to cap it off wheni got home i couldnt even make a snowman becasue the snow was all powder crap.
Your right though, snow sucks.
Mental Note : I need to start going out properly again, and not just to the local.
