"Onions please"

I'm making a site for a mate at the moment, and I'd like your opinions on it.

They're just the basic layouts, and I'll probably use the second one for the finished site. Any suggestions/tips are welcome.

Yup, I prefer the first one too.

Love the little navigation at the top, and on a whole looks great ;-)

My onions are my own.

Hmmm, I still can't decide.

The Flash at the moment is only 11k - some of the images are bigger than that! I'm gonna build a non-Flash site too, for the few.

The Flash is partly for decoration, although I'm going to build a small radio into it so that my mate can stream some low quality samples of his work.

Second one for me, your right, the first is way too crowded and fussy. Ditch the flash though, its pointless and just serves to increase download times, annoy people, and force the few who havent got it, to download flash. A simple jpeg with a rollover effect would be much better.

And http://www.saila.com/usage/lorem/ is what most people use to fill gaps in websites ;)

have to agree with Bullett, prefer first one.

Very good. I like the first one. Cluttered it may seem, but there's the extra column for news & updates, which is always better at-a-glance rather than having to link to it.
