From roadrun.com:

CLUTCH will release a new record, entitled "Blast Tyrant", on the newly formed DRT label on March 30. The new record is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2001 release, "Pure Rock Fury".

Lead singer Neil Fallon explains how the record came together: "One of our approaches for 'Blast Tyrant' was to keep in mind that less can be more. So, we tried to use a minimum of tracks, keeping a classic stereo image in mind. Most of the lyrics were written on the spot, which lends some thematic cohesion, namely, the adventures of one conscientious objector, 'Worm Drink' (a demon, of sorts), and the effects of his actions (both anecdotal and epic) while fleeing the guns of the Blast Tyrant's prize ship, 'The Swollen Goat'. That is not to say that the record is any sort of rock opera. More like a soundtrack without a movie."

"Blast Tyrant" track listing:

01. La Curandera
02. Mercury
03. Swollen Goat
04. Weather Maker's Delight
05. Worm Drink
06. Army of Bono
07. Ribonucleic Acid Freak Out
08. Ghost
09. The Regulator
10. Spleen Merchant
11. Cypress Grove
12. WYSIWYG
13. Promoter

More like Sinkemlow & Careful?

Open up The Border - Pure Rock Fury
Red Horse Rainbow - Pure Rock Fury
Big Fat Pig - Jam Room
Release The Kraken - Jam Room
Tight Like That - S/T
7 Jam - S/T
The Yeti - The Elephant Riders
Soapmakers - The Elephant Riders

They used to be shouty angry music on the 1st album, then discovered a rolling groove for their self-titled, then got looser and wah-wah for Elephant Riders, Jam Room was just that - jam tunes and Pure Rock Fury had a more blues soaked feel.
I've heard some of the tracks from Blast Tyrant, and they range from blues-tinged "Sinkemlow" types to a slow, delta-slide number "The Regulator"

*shrugs*
They're not everybody's thing, and they'll never be a huge band but without a doubt have remained my favourite group for over a decade now, and that's hard to do.

I'm still not decided on Clutch. I liked Sinkemlow and Careful with that Mic, but the other tracks I've got are all a bit too shouty and slow for me. Tell me about more songs like the two I mentioned and I'll give 'em a listen.
