We are all very busy at times and don't always have time to write out full blown reviews for the latest games we have played.I thought it may be a good idea for members to post small mini-reviews which would only take a few minutes to write. This would give other members a heads up of which games may be worth buying, renting or avoiding. It could also make people aware of any good games which may not necessarily get the recognition they deserve. As not all games get to be reviewed on this site these days I thought it may be something worth trying ?.Also if anyone is after on opinion of a specific game please post a request in this thread.Hopefully someone on here will have played it and can help out.

Feel free to add :)

DIRT 2 Demo (360/PS3)

Fantastic graphics but its arcade like gameplay and cheesey voiceovers didn't do much for me TBH.Its not bad but its nothing you haven't seen a hundred times before.May give a rent but doubt i'll buy it,especially as Forza Motorsport 3 is out around a month after it and looks fantastic. If you fancy the look of it the demo is on Xbox live and PSN now.

Microsoft Official Wireless Racing Wheel (Xbox 360)

Been after one of these for a while, finally got to borrow one the other week.Well made but I found games harder to play than using the Xbox 360 pad,I have always found the analogue triggers on that to work very well on racing games anyway. The wheel is also very expensive for what it is and does not really represent very good value for money IMO.

Army Of Two

I missed this on its initial release after hearing so many bad reports about it.Have to say when I finally got to play it I was pleasantly surprised TBH.Its cheesey as hell with some of the worst voice overs ever and although its a shameless Gears Of War rip off I actually rather enjoyed it.The single player campaign is good fun, although very short. One word of warning though is give yourself half an hour to get used to games unusual control system, once you've got the hang of that there is a fair amount of fun to be had on it.Its cheap as chips now but no one plays it online anymore,so I wouldn't recommend it for people after a multiplayer experience. Its sequel is out at the end of the year,I will probably pick that up if its cheap enough.

WET Demo Xbox 360

Seems like an action packed game with plenty of slow motion jumping, guns, swords and killing. You play Rubi who is a hired gun and from the demo you chase a man who has stolen a case, details on story are sketchy but the gameplay is fast, varried (in the 20 minutes you play) and fun.

You can shoot two people at once, wall jump, slow motion slide and shoot and even enter a "rage" mode where your guns are upgraded and everything is red and black (cartoon style graphics) - looks like a fun and promising game, i look forward to getting it.

Graphics looks nice and seem like it could offer a lot of fun, download the demo!

May get repetitive if that is all there is to offer but will be enjoyable for a while at least

Cheers Chris, thought it could be a useful thread.Hopefully it'll will get at least some contributions from time to time. Here's a few more :

The Bigs 2 : (Xbox 360)

Fun arcade baseball game which can be picked up really cheap. Its virtually identical to its predecessor although that was only ever available on import as it never got released in Europe.A real blast, especially when playing with your mates.Graphics are very average and the commentary is cheesey and annoying as hell. But it doesn't really matter you'll be enjoying playing it too much to care.

Madcatz Streetfighter Pad (360/PS3)

Just bought another one of these and can recommend them 100%,especially to Xbox 360 owners as their controller is useless for beat em ups.Although it is wired (PS3 version is wireless) it is well made and will take some serious punishment.Hard to master combo's (especially on SF 4) are much easier to pull off using one of these. They work on most fighting games with the exception of MK Vs DC universe (which has its own very unique control system). With Tekken 6 and Blazblue : Calamity Trigger due out in next couple of months beat em up fans it may want to consider investing in one of these ?.

9/10

Scene It : Box Office Smash (Xbox 360)

Available cheap these days and its great fun to play with friends.Comes with 4 wireless buzzers and the questions are generally pretty easy.Does get a bit repetitive hence I have just sold mine on (although I only lost about a fiver on it).Worth getting as you'll have a laugh on it.

7/10

Trivial Pursuit (Xbox 360)

Another party game which is good fun to play with friends. Can play a shortened version or the full game (which does tend to go a bit).Like Scene It this can also be picked up cheap these days and extra question packs (movies etc.) can be downloaded off Xbox live.

7/10

Connect 4 (XBLA)

Great fun, especially in local multiplayer. Can play the traditional game or one of 2 enhanced versions. One is a quick fire game where you have to get as many lines of 4 in a set 3 minute time and the other is a power up version where you can blow up,knock out your opponents counters etc..All 3 games are great fun but be warned its a perfect way to fall out with your friends !.Demo is available to download off Xbox Live and it can be either bought from there or check around for the scratchcard version. These occasionally come free from some retailers (when buying a 360 game) or I have seen them for sale for around £3.

Fantastic idea pete. They won't be GAD worthy, but in some occasions, they'll be more helpful than the 'real' reviews, if you're looking for a quick opinion.

Metal Gear Sold 4 : Guns of The Patriots 7/10

...and it all starts so well. What follows is not so much a game with cinematic cut scenes but a film with small playable parts.
As the game goes on you realise Kojima has either run out of ideas or is constricted by the laborious plot setup in Sons of Liberty. Even the boss battles, a talking point in future games, are boring and rehashed variants on previous villains. It's towards the end that someone realised this and included a ridiculous "My dick is bigger than yours" battle between Solid and Liquid before the truly awful final battle.
As far as positives go, the controls are great as always, it looks beautiful and there are sections of the game which are fun, the canyon assault when you're assisting a rebel team is a highlight but those moments are few and far between. This is a poor finale to a great series

I'll go first then, these are the last few games I have played and my opinions of them.

Wolfenstein (360/PS3/PC)

I can understand why opinions seem to vary over this title.Firstly the graphics are very mediocre,it looks like Xbox 360 launch title but it runs fast enough and with no real issues.I don't know if the developers were trying to give it an 'old school' look to match its shallow run and gun gameplay or if they just decided to release a £40 game which looks and plays like Call Of Duty 2.On the plus side the single player campaign is tremendous fun but multiplayer is a bit lacking.I have experienced terrible lagging problems when playing this game online.Team Death Match is straightforward enough and easy to get into. The controls are identical to the Call Of Duty series so the game is very easy to pick up and play.Despite its negative points I still rate it as one of the most fun games around at the moment but perhaps some may want to rent it or wait for it to drop in price first.

Overall 8/10

Call Of Juarez : Bound In Blood (360/PS3/PC)

A definite improvement on its predessor and although its nothing really new its still enjoyable enough. Its got decent graphics and its good fun to play and its already dropped in price at quite a few retailers.I rented the game but did not feel compelled enough to buy it afterwards.I may pick it up at a later date once it hits the £10 - £15 mark.Worth a rent for sure and I've certainly played a hell of a lot worse.

Overall 6.5/10

Batman Arkham Asylum (360/PS3/PC)

Having already tried the demo I picked this up today and first impressions are really good.Excellent graphics and a very good combat system which makes it play like a Batman game should.Lots of sneaking around like in Metal Gear Solid and attempting to take bad guys down without being detected. Its a very good superhero game and I am looking forward to playing through it.Worth picking up IMO.

Overall 8/10

Trials HD (XBLA)

Great game, absolutely loads of fun.Its a kind of motorbike platformer. The aim of the game is simply to a clear a series of stunt assault courses within a certain time limit.Furiously addictive, especially when playing with your mates. There is also a series of mini events to test your skills (and patience). There is a demo available to download from Xbox Live Marketplace and the full game costs 1200 MS points (around £8.50).

Overall 8/10
