NOTE:I don't like Austin, but I still wrote this from an unbiased point of view.
Steve Austin featured on the Irish radio show, "The Gerry Ryan Show" this morning(Thursday, 22nd January).
He was speaking on the phone from London.(Evidently in connection with his book signings in the UK)
He was promoting his book entitled The Stone Cold Truth.
The host, Gerry Ryan, mentioned Austin's overdose on "Energy Drinks", which caused Austin to feel he was having a heart attack.
During the fairly lengthy interview, the following were mentioned:
-Of course, his real name being Steve Williams, he commented on how he became to use the name "Austin".
His explanation was that while spending time in jail, the other prisoners were beating on him, and dubbed him "Austin", because a previous prisioner was called "Williams".
The validity of this story must be questioned. Does anyone know if there is truth behind it?
-Austin being married thrice previously. Ryan asked Austin if these marriage failures were a result of Austin's hectic wrestling schedule, to which Austin agreed to an extent, but insisted that his busy lifestyle wasn't totally to blame. The Debra issue was not at all touched upon.
Austin commented on how his two daughters live in England, and he hardly gets to see them. He frequently writes/emails them.
-On meeting his biological father a while back at a WWE show. He said he appreciated that his father was the man responsible for giving him life, but beyond that he had little to say to him.
-Listeners were given the opportunity to phone in and speak to Austin. the following were notable:
1.-Austin told a 11 year old that it was of huge importance to stay in school, even if you want to become a wrestler, as it i not always a guaranteed profession. Ryan said that Austin himself was a "Grade A student that loved studying"(!!)
2.When asked were the WWE ever planning on coming to Ireland, Austin replied:"I would love to come to Ireland." He then said that the WWE visted a few years ago, but he was clearly referring to the North of Ireland(Britain), as the WWE hasn't visited The Republic of Ireland(Where the radio show was being broadcasted) in quite some time. My guess is it is somewhere around the ten year mark.
3.Interestingly, when one caller asked about The Undertaker's return, Austin replied that he didn't even know he was gone! It shows that Raw and Smackdown! are kept wide apart, although he then went on to say that he should be at The Rumble, and if not, certainly at Wrestlemania.
NOTE:If the Kane vs 'Taker storyline is already planned, surely Austin would be aware of it? Are they possibly bringing Kane to Smackdown!, in place of Benoit?
4.In regard to female wrestlers, Austin said he disliked those that try to wrestle like "the men". He admired such wrestlers as Sherri Martell, Alundra Blayze(Medusa), and The Fabulous Moolah, for having a different style to that of male wrestlers.
5.One caller asked Austin about his feelings on the Tough Enough series, and Austin became audibly angered.
He first response was that "he didn't think much" of the show.
He said that they were a bunch of "cry-babies". And if they wanted him to knock them about, he would.
He compared the way the show revealed alot about the business(How to sell moves, etc.) to David Copperfield revealing how to do his magic tricks.
"If David Copperfield showed you how to do his tricks, no one would go to see his shows"
I could be reading too much into this one, but was Austin blaming WWE's recent poor ratings on Tough Enough?
6-When asked did he miss wrestling, Austin said that he did, but that he still has a few matches left in him.
-Austin mentioned that he holds the record for the amount of arenas he has sold out for events and PPVs, and said that Eric Bischoff told him he wouldn't make a living out of wrestling back in WCW.
Then almost bitterly, Austin commented;"Whenever I sell out an arena, I think of Eric Bischoff."
Is there a bitterness between Austin and Bischoff, and if so, why are they working together in such a close fashion on Raw?
-When asked by Ryan to explain all the different Wrestling organisations, Austin said that the only place to make real money and get noticed is the WWE.
Does Austin not think much of NWA-TNA, or was he simply telling the truth?(Given the latter's lack of a proper TV deal)
-Austin finished the interview by telling the critics: "If you don't like it, don't watch it."

> good.
"How do you get your head so shiny?"
ROFL!!
:D :D :D

"And everyone stopped watching it." :)
It's pretty obvious from the interview that key issues were skirted around and he is solely to promote himself, his book and the WWE. I wouldn't personally read into much else here. That's me though.

Yeah, perhaps he was adding heat to their ongoing angle.
Also, he said he most enjoyed working with Mick Foley, and somehow also mentioned Wrestlemania(I didn't get the full context, so I din't add it to th main report.)
If he did infact say this, could there possibly be a Mick Foley vs Steve Austin match at WMXX? Austin did say on Raw that he would have to kick Foley's @ss if he didn't show at the Rumble......
You heard it here first!
SCOOOOOOOOP!
I can't see him and Bischoff having too much of a problem with each other considering how much they've worked with each other over the past few months.
