What sort of performance (fps) would I get with a ATI 9800SE or 9800 Pro compared to the 9600 Pro or XT models,as I found a 9800 SE for £144.77 inc VAT. Would the extar £20 more than an XT boast any serious framerate increases?
Go to www.anandtech.com, they do all sorts of benchmarking and are the most trustworthy site on the net for this type of info :)

Hey, thanks for the shout, glad i could help other people get a bargain.
It should be said however that you should only go for the AIW softmod gamble if you would still be happy with the card if it didnt softmod. Or you could sell the card and try again :)

Always go for the best you can afford. It means that you wont need another one for longer, and will give better graphics. Also, Asus and Connect3D are the best makes.

I should also say a big thank you to cookie monster who posted here about it a while back.
If you go for a 9800SE AIW then buy the Hercules model rather than the Sapphire one because there is a ~60% chance that it can be softmodded to 9800Pro (with a slower clock speed unless you overclock). My 3DMark 2003 score went from 3000-something to 5100 without overclocking. It's a bit of a gamble but if it comes off then you've got a real bargain; if it doesn't then you can return it and get another one!
