My bro is considering buying a laptop for himself I've been asked to find good brands or companies which make good quality laptops but I'm unsure which ones are good or not.
He doesn't want to spend too much but wants a firewire port, doesn't require a GFX card, nor a powerful CPU and at least 256mb of RAM.

Yup, Just as long as you can afford the hefty price tag that comes with it.

Another (hand built) alienware style company is Voodoo, they make amazing looking laptops

Fujitsu-siemens, great laptops for the price, packed with features and they don't have any junk pre-installed.

Pricey though.
