When? I dunno. But the ISPs really need to get their act together. In the UK, we pay to play online games because we have to connect through a telephone line with our consoles, and telephone charges ain't free unless you use a 'free' ISP (which you normally have to pay for anyway or else suffer a 2 hour cutoff), and you can only use this with PC and not a console.
(Yes, hacks are available for the consoles, it's the principle of the thing I'm getting at).
I want to see toll free 0800 console online gaming. At present if I was playing PSO online I'd have racked up £18 in call charges, (10 hours play). NOT ACCEPTABLE.
And who's it all down to? The bureaucratic nightmare that is OFTEL and the monolith that is BT. Until BT gets moving, or OFTEL orders it too, free online gaming is just a dream of the future in the UK, not a reality.
So sort it out.
