Was in HMV on Friday in Oxford St, looking for an Alison Kraus CD and heard the 1st song of this year that really, really made me stop in my tracks and listen, asked at the counter what it was and ended up buying the CD.
"The Trouble with Humans" by Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez, with the title song being the one that made me buy it.
An old guy singing with a young woman, harmonising and pedal-steel influenced country songs.
Yeah, I know some of you will be "Eurgh, country music" but that just indicates your narrow minded approach to music. Try and find, download "The Trouble With Humans" by Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez before you turn your philistine nose up.
At least give it a listen.

By the market, up them stairs next to the upstairs hairdresser place. Tones Music - they might have a few branches elsewhere, Chelmsford I think. Not bad, but shop prices are always much more than Internet for things like strings and sticks.

Same as most other music stores really - do they ever differ? Nice selection of amps though, might have to invest in a new one soon. And loads of cymbals and sticks for you pro drummer types.

New music store? Nope.
Any good?

Haven't seen a fantastic film yet, but I've ordered "Capturing The Friedmans" which I expect will leave an impression.
Music wise this album is the 1st to really make me buy it on impulse and it's excellent.

Haven't found any good music yet this year. A couple of excellent films (Last Samurai, Lost In Translation), but no good music. I quite like some of the Franz Ferdinand stuff, but they're being championed my MNTMVE2, so y'know...

I'm always on the lookout though. BTW, have you been in that new music shop up the town yet, Goaty? I can't believe we've finally got a new one!
