I think everyone worships a god (or gods) whether they know it or not, they just have different names and take different forms these days. Money is the biggest god of our time. If we don't kiss its feet and eat from its table of power we are in many ways condemned to hell - in this case to estrangement or poverty.
Well, I don't think it says anywhere that Gods and glove puppets are somehow mutually exclusive...
