While there have been countless posts on console wars and how people say things like “my console is better than your console” etc., I would like to take this opportunity to say good luck to; Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance and the super GameCube, Microsoft for their first taste of the console gaming world with the X-box, Sony for their future with Playstation2 and last but by no means least Sega with their game developing future.
I think that the more consoles on the market, each company will try to go one further to make their console better. Many people will think that this will be a bad thing, but I am a guy that sees a half-full glass of beer :-)
The reason I think it’s a good thing is because with each company trying to one better than the other, it will be a good to see new original things to come to each console. If we just had say Sony for a company, I think that the gaming world would of not got as good as this for a long time because there would be no need for it will there? If Sony knew everyone would buy their console because there are no others, surely the pressure is not on them to keep creating original ideas?
So, to everyone that loves saying petty comments like “PS2 rules and your one sucks” please consider that if there wasn’t that console that “sucks” then maybe the technology for games wouldn’t be as good as it is today.
Thank you for reading.

With the GBA, they have the market almost to themselves.

The reason why Nintendo are releasing the GBA games at outrageous prices is because the GBA is 32bit the games will have to be quite big to support this, but with the GBA being so small the cartridges will have to be small but have a substantial amount of memory and because of this they cost a lot of money to produce and to get it all back and more they will have to release them at a higher price
And the reason th PS2 games are so expensive is that the PS2 is harder to program for than the the PSX it costs more money and also because they are using DVDs which have a large memory, actually huge they will have to release tham at a higher price. But if you think back PSX games used to cost £35-£40 so the PS2 aren't really anomolous compared to all the other consoles prices, i think they are resonable
:P

Then Sony came on the market. Would Sega and Nintendo have bothered to develop next gen consoles so quickly had Sony not been around. I think from the gaming press at the time they would have. Sony wouldn't have made 'that' much of a difference.
But Sony came, the console wars really became a battlefield, and in the end, much to a huge percentage of the gaming world's population's dismay, Sega pulled out of the console hardware market. This is the company that produced the 128-bit Dreamcast, the most advanced console of it's day at launch, and which is still giving the PS2 a good kicking even though production has halted.
So now we got the same triad war, but with a newbie taking the place of Sega. Will they make the same impact on the market that Sony did when they arrived? We'll know the answer to that by the end of next year for sure.
But recent history has shown that the marketplace can withstand 2 competitiors, but 3? Will we be losing another one in 3 year's time?
It was as powerful as the Master System and maybe as powerful as the Gameboy colour. I don't really care.
I don't know why they stopped making games for Game Gear, i thought it was quite good. No way near as good as the GBA will be though :-)
State of the art Gamecube and Xbox games, only £25!
Snes quality GBA games (many of which are just re-releases) £40!
That's exactly what happens when there's a lack of competition!
Price is another big issue and with there being so many consoles on the market, each console has good bargains for its customer.
I’m pretty sure that if Nintendo said they were to put their gamecube games to £25, the X-box games would be roughly the same price, what do you think? I really think Microsoft would consider putting the prices down for games and Sony for that matter because people would be more happy to buy cheap quality games for a quality console rather than buying expensive quality games for a quality console.
Look at Nintendo for instance. With the Gamecube competing with the Xbox and PS2, Nintendo are making it as cheap and worthwhile as possible which is great.
With the GBA, they have the market almost to themselves. They can afford to rip people off so that's exactly what they're doing. Fancy paying £40 for a game released on the Snes 10 years ago? I thought not!
