As is, it's quieter, and slimmer, but the difference isn't that drastic compared to the PS2/PS2 slim difference. I won't be trading in mine to get a slim. Still, maybe it'll encourage more people to adopt the PS3.

BC is all software based anyway, so they just need to release a firmware update with it in.
I may pick one up, if they are cheap enough in time to come, but we will see. I agree they should have backward compatability, maybe they will release a newer one in a year with it to try make more money!
Looks like I made the right choice getting the proper one a few weeks ago.
