Do you think time travel is possible? I dont think it is. People say time is like some sort of atual matter. Like when people say time slows down the closer you get to a black hole. How is that possible, time surely isnt a physical matter?! How is a black hole possible?! it all confuses me.
So back to the point. Do you think it is possible to go back in time? If so how?

Time does in effect slow down near a black hole. There are 4 dimensions, height, length, breadth and time. Given enough gravity, time can in theory be bent, in the same way light can. The event horizon of a black hole is the point where the gravity is so strong, that light cannot escape. As nothing travels faster than the speed of light, this means NOTHING can break the pull of the black hole below this event horizon. That is why a black hole is a black hole - light cannot escape it. It is also theoretical that speeds up almost exponentially as you approach the center of a black hole. So, if we found a way to get close enough to a black hole, without being pulled in, or without being crushed to death by the unbelievably strong forces, then we could in theory 'speed time up', before breaking the pull of the black hole, and return to 'normal' speed time. In this way we could travel into the future, but we could never go back. To our knowledge using a black hole in this way is completely impossible and would result in certain death - assuming we had the power to get to one in the first place!
More and more scientists are accepting that though not directly linked, light and time may be paired in many fundamental ways. It is believed that should you travel faster than light, that you could in fact stop time (from your perspective). The only problem is that to attain this velocity would take more energy than is available in an entire galaxy. So again, this is theoretically impossible.
Very interesting none-the-less though. Stephen Hawking is one of the main minds currently concerned with this aspect of astro-physics.
