I have seen
a large number of posts on the net of the ability to play region 1 DVD's
on the english and Japanese versions, but only if you have the DVD driver
version 1.00.
The driver mine has is 1.20E, does anyone know if there is a way to play
region 1 DVD's with this one?

Nope.
No joy, you're stuck with R2 discs, even though there's an option on the set-up to change.
Frustrating.
My PC lets me change regions, but only 4 times and then sets to the last one chosen.
Silly.
