Nintendo are only a few months away from launching their GameCube to the good people of Japan. Those lovely boys and girls from the good ol' U S of A get theres in around 6 months. We have to wait a whole year.

But what is it exactly that we're waiting for?

Other than the original video-clips shown quite some time ago now, we have seen almost nothing of what the GameCube has to offer.

Microsoft have recently shown off their sparkling new wonder console, but recieved heavy criticism for faking half of the shots. People remain unimpressed by Bill's box of tricks.

But Nintendo? The anticipation for what they are to reveal at E3 is huge. We really don't have much of a clue as to what games will be shown, merely speculation over what games are likely to be launch titles.

So whilst the PS2 is out there on the shelves, and the Xbox is trying to get itself noticed, the casual gamer has not heard a word from Nintendo. Is this silence a wise move?

The market has changed significantly, even since the release of the N64, so if the masses have already chosen the PS2, or have seen what the Xbox has to offer, and has been impressed, by the time Nintendo starts it's promotional wagon rolling it may be too late.

It seems that rather than the steady promotion and constant updates on the progress of games and the machine that Microsoft have gone for, Nintendo will try the snowball approach. Just months before the launch of the console they have playable demos at E3, stunning video clips and the like. They start sending demo copies out to the magazines to get plenty of publicity just before the release. The casual gamer thinks "Woah! That looks awesome!" gets caught up in the hype, and buys the machine.

So it will all start at E3. There are many heads out there that have their eyes focused on either the PS2 or the Xbox. Nintendo must do something to turn those heads towards the GameCube, and an impressive showing at E3 should do just that!

Nintendo know what they're doing. Everyone has seen the X-Box and PS2 games right, they know what the hardware is capable of. (Especially when mixed with Photodraw) But what have they seen of Nintendo...Not - A - Thing.

Look at it this way, You have seen Traffic @ the cinema, not a bad film but hey, you have seen the trailer for the new Mel Gibson Movie, not too excited...would you rather see one of these again, OR see the new Tommy Lee Jones film everyone is raving about. People have seen what MS and Sony have on offer, and now all attention will be focused on the Gamecube. People will play it, admire it and live a dream just by feeling the controller! We'll need some paramedics to treat the shoock victims...it will be that good!

So like I said, it is Nintendo's time, the road it paved for them, Sony have taken the plane to the 'land of the N64' microsoft have taken the train to heaven knows where and Now Nintendo will walk the golden path to success! All thanks to this silence...shhhhhh.
