A four book series by Tad Williams. Excellent. 'Tis a fantasy mixture like LOTR, only it doesn't try to rip it off in any way. I couldn't be bothered giving a storyline, but if you like fantasy check these books out. The first one is called "The Dragonbone Chair". Go buy.
