I was wrong, well I am now, because my brother (scouse) is so dumb! Let me explain. It started last week. "Sony to stop making Dreamcasts!" OK no big deal right? THEY are still making games (Shenmue 2, 18 Wheeler etc) BUT my brother hears this news and WHAM! He gets it in his head that all DC's will perish and he must sell his grey box now!

So, my dumb brother decided it is time sell a 4-5 month old DC for ....get this £150! I really should tell him a new on is only £99.99! Anyway now I have to get rid of my DC games (bye bye Shenmue!) Unfortunately, I now have the problem of owning a PS, but not a DC. So, after serious thinking and alot of snooping around for deals, I've decided......and my wallet did not want to hear this....... I'm going to buy a PS2.

I know you guys will be screaming at me for slagging off the little black box, but hear me out...I MADE A MISTAKE! I have seen MGS2 in action and the scene where the guard spots Snake because of his shadow is pure dynamite. Now, £300 is alot to pay for a console. So I have to debate this seriously. I'm meant to be going to University next year and I HAVE to save. So guys and gals, what do I do?

a) beat up my brother until her realises DC is not dead.....yet
b) save and play on the PS
or (my favourite)
c) buy a PS2 and then blow away terrorist scum on a big boat

So what can I do????

This all came around after reading an article saying that shops will eventually push DC off the shelf to make room for the PS2. Also they said that games programmers are going to slow down production of DC games and switch to PS2 games, but isn't the PS2 hard to program for???? To top that the PS2 is now getting Crazy Taxi, 18 Wheeler and other titles, that are meant to be released on the DC.

Also the PS2 DVD, does it work? I've read stories and seen first hand that it does not work, but do some work and if so do they work well? I'm not sure and I don't want to spend £300 to find out. I can only hope prices drop for Xmas!

So I'm confused, my brother is sooooooooooo dumb for selling our DC (well his) at a ridiculous price and I really, really have joined the bandwagon and want to own the PS2 clan. I really wish Sega had not done what they've done!

Now that is shock news!! SONY making DC's in the first place is just unbelieveable - And we all thought that Sega and Sony were competitor's, but really they're commercial bed-fellows!!
(Only Joking!) ;P

but isn't the PS2 hard to program for????

Some developers have said it is, but others have said that if you try to program it like a PC, then it's really tough, but if you take the correct approach it's pretty straight forward. The only difficulty is with PC ports. All the major developers are reallt starting to get some excellent results - EA, Konami, LucasArts, Free Radical, Namco, Capcom etc etc. Overall don't worry about it!!

Also the PS2 DVD, does it work?

Absolutly!! If you don't have a DVD player (Like me) it's excellent!! It's not upto the standard of a top quality DVD player - but for £300 what do you expect. It's MUCH better than VHS (as it should be), and compared to the other DVD players I've seen there's no difference in picture or sound quality!!
And remember because the PS2 dvd player is [primarily software based, this can be upgraded by use of a Sony disc to update the drivers!!
