Ok, so here's what I did last night as of bout 9:15pm.

Went down stairs for dinner, chicken curry, Sainsburys, 'boneless' breast. I take my FIRST bite, chew and swallow...swallow...erm, something’s stuck, not to worry, try a drink to shift it, nope, drink isn't moving, mouth is flooded. Still not panicking, its time to try breathing through the nose as I'm running out of air, o dear, panic time. I jump up, it's obvious what’s wrong, so dad, a fireman who’s done 1st aid courses, does the Heimlich manoeuvre, vomit comes out my mouth, but the object sinks a little lower in my throat.

Phew, I'm breathing, but I can feel it still there, so I try to drink it down, plan backfires (literally) and it all comes up and you guessed it, lodged again, another Heimlich (by the way, it was taking three or four squeezes to work each time) So it shifts down, I try waiting for it to pass, no good, a minute later another choke and German manoeuvre, repeat again.

Time to try the Bulimia technique, and so, after some hesitation I try...and fail, but it has moved a little lower, time for A&E, so in the car we jump, and 5 minutes later we're at A&E, where I meet some colourful characters...

Crazy blood lady - Has had a operation recently and ripped her stitches, is walking around showing everyone and saying "I'm bleedin to death 'ere, you think they'd hurry". Nice.

Overdose chick - Is in a chair, surrounded by doctors, tripping out. They rush her into another room, moments later a nurse dashes out picks up overdose chick's shoes, phew, all is well.

*Object shifts lower, I feel this*

The next event, the X-ray. I get X-rayed, BIG bone in throat, so I get high priority when being examined.

*Object shifts lower twice*

FOUR doctors ponder at the size of the bone for 10-15 minutes before realising, its supposed to be there, back to the drawing board ay lads?

*Lower again during examination - drops to safe place, but scratches apophyges*

Ok its time for the best (and coolest/grossest) bit. CAMERA! I go to a ward and they put a camera up my nose and down into my throat, SO GROSS! Horrid feeling! GROSS GROSS GROSS!

Outcome: I have a scratched...inner neck, and I need to take time off, eat soup and porridge!

Evening ends at 12:15, ahh, the haste of A&E.

So, Its time to learn something. Chew your food.
Seriously thought, I could've died, and I don't want anyone to experience that so:

The Heimlich Manoeuvre - Make your left hand into a fist; place the palm of your right hand over your fist, palm on the little finger area. Place the fist (thumb area toward your stomach) underneath your right hand side rib cage, pulling IN and UP. This forces the diaphragm to contract, meaning a rush of air to the throat. I hope that, having learnt this; you can be as lucky as I was if the situation arises.

Thanks for reading.

Yes yes.

Scary as hell for the girlfriend indeed.

He rang me up about half twelve to tell me his 'funny story to tell our kids in the future' blurts it out with bubbly tone then cannot belive why I am in shock...

After losing my grandad a day and a bit earlier you would think i would be in shock nearly losing two loved ones in three days???

I know you feel. I gullet wrestled a big greasy piece of beef fat once, pops had to Heimlich it outta that right fast. I was just trying to down water thinking "it'll shift in a minute" and you start to panic when it doesn't.

glad all is well.
