I'm sick of people going on about how great 2003 is, so I'm going to bore everyone with what I hated about it. Others do the same if they can be bothered.

First off is football. Now I love to both play and watch football, it's a great sport and easy to understand. It's just what it creates is what I'm against. International football games should be about friendly competition between two national teams, not some kind of massive bar brawl.

But still it happens. England football fans especially seem to love taking their anger out on other fans if their national team loses. It's just pathetic, I know people have been complaining about a possible ban of England fans at internationals, but it could just be one of the best decisions the FA will ever make. Why stand for a bunch of a knuckle-dragging, beer-swilling retards pounding 3 shades of crap out of opposing fans when it could so easily be stopped? Sure, a few people will get through this net, and still attend matches, but the amount of fans will decrease a fair bit.

Because of these selfish fools, not only is the wonderful sport ruined for so many, but people die. Just think about that for a second; because someone's national team win, they get killed. It's something like 4 people die every time there's an especially big fight. That in itself is enough to question the human race, so something must be done.

Which brings me onto my next point. The British and more specifically, the English. I hate what the majority of our country has become. Okay, perhaps hate is too strong a word, but as a nation, we've degenerated into something pretty bad. Like I just mentioned, a lot of football violence is fuelled by English supporters, and everything about England is turning more and more... American. I have nothing against America as a nation, or the American people, but why the hell is England turning into it?

How people talk is just one affect of America, no like isn't normally used 10 times every sentence, it's normally used when it's needed. What happened to people thinking of Britain as a wonderful countryside resort, full of cows, horses and rain? Those days are gone now; instead we're like America-land, one copy of something that shouldn't be copied in the first place.

Also, some people are just... annoying. I never remember English people being so arrogant that I wanted to punch them so very hard in between the eyes, but that's what people have turned into. Obviously, not everyone, but the amount has increased tenfold.

For instance, Michael Jackson. Now I know that many people won't like him, it's just how people constantly accuse him of things. Martin Bashir started it all off, who I also hate, but now everyone seems to have a dig when they can. It's obvious he's not right in the head, but I certainly don't think he’s a bad person; other than Martin Bashir, I don't think I've ever seen someone who's met him say he's not a thoroughly nice bloke. Everyone has their problems and yes, him more so than others, but why must people point out his faults so much, exploit his weaknesses and generally try to blame him for things that may never be proved correct. He's just one of Britain's many scapegoats.

Next up is the news. It's not so much the news, it's great seeing what's going on, finding out the weather and whatever else, but their priorities really aren't sorted out very well. If 10 Iraq's get killed in a car bomb, and David Beckham streaked in London, everyone's going to turn to Beck's bits. Why? Surely people being killed without any sort of motive is more important that some mindless 'celebrity'?

Some stories really highlight Britain’s obsession with this fabled celebrity lifestyle. I can't believe so many people would want to be famous, sure you'd get the money, but the cons outweigh the pros so very much. It saddens me to find stories like Tony Blair's 'chest ache' being the top story above horrible disasters such as, like I've already said, the ever-present car bomb threat.

Less important than my other hates are those Army adverts. Not only do they annoy the crap out of me, but the way the army is suddenly glamorised so people join disgusts me in some way. Oh yes, what a wonderful job, you get to use guns and stuff, and it's really important, yes. Oh, and did we mention you need no skill whatsoever to join?

Surely there are enough people joining the army without these infuriating adverts? As the war proved, the army isn't a nice place to be. Even after we've 'won', there are still British and American soldiers dying.

Well that's me done. Hope you enjoyed me hating things.

I don't see what was so-great about 2003, either. I remember being there at New Year's Eve of 2002, thinking "what a great year this is going to be..." - and now, I say "good-riddance" to it, and welcome 2004 with open-arms!

I had a lot of personal things go wrong last year (eg. failing my driving test twice, parents divorce, dropping out of school, losing contact with friends...), but, in general, things just seemed to take one-big-step towards... "Really Bad".

How idiotic has the entire world become?!

Take football, for example... Wayne Rooney scores one-or-two good goals, makes his England debut at a younger-age than `Michael Owen´, and manages to "out-shine" the likes of Emile Heskey and Darius Vassel... And now, he's suddenly become our `Saviour´ in everyone's eyes!
`If anyone's gonna win the game for us, it's Wayne Rooney!´ `Because of Wayne Rooney, we're going to win Euro 2004!´ "Wayne Rooney! Wayne Rooney! Wayne fooking ROONEY!!!"

It's absolutely rediculous! If these millions-of-idiots were to actually stop believing all the hype forced into their eye-sockets, they would see the truth, and how we do not really stand a chance against a teams like France, Spain or Italy! We were lucky-enough to just qualify for the thing - and struggled against teams like Liechtenstein and Macedonia (let alone Turkey), WITH David Beckham and all those other "world-class" players.

And, just, DON'T get me started on Sven-Goran Eriksson - PLEASE!!

Why can't they see the truth???

Infact, it's been like that with pretty much everything.
Whatever somes reads or hears, they instantly believe.

"matrix2 is da best film eva!!11!!1", etcetera...

Are we now incapabale of thinking for ourselves?!
If so, then, I really fear for the future of mankind - really, I do! I mean, if we cannot do and believe what we want now, what will it be like in the future... You shouldn't give a stuff about what other people think.

Live's too valuable to have others telling you what to do and how to live it - you only live ONCE, you know! It's YOUR OWN Life; why not make it your own?!?

In short; money is making the world go-around. And, for some reason (perhaps every child is now born with half their brain missing...?), we cannot think for ourselves, anymore. What ``The Man´´ says, `Goes´.

*dammit, clicked "post" too soon*

the americanisation of this country is a shame, for we are now as close to being the 53rd state as we can be, all the while still voicing the opinion that we're loads better than America, who are we trying to kid? those that'll believe it that's who. language has suffered, culture has suffered and so has the feeling of "i can do what i like and blame someone else" that seems to be running wild across the nation (you need only switch on the tv or radio to find out how many people can get you loads of money for "accidents that weren't your fault", despite the fact that most of them could've been avoided with the application of a little common sense.

well, i COULD list the grievences i have, but Rickoss has pretty much listed them all.

a lazy nation clinging to the memory of an empire that was squandered before they were born, busying themselves with as few low brow activities as they can before renewing their opinions by reading The Sun and wondering how best to show their "patriotism" at a sporting event they have no control over.

surely there are more productive things people could do?
